Welcome to the Bulleen Templestowe Cricket Club. The 2019/20 season is a big one for the club – its our 50th Anniversary, so an exciting time to be a Bullant! This year, we aim to field numerous Junior teams  in the following formats – Super 7s, Fast 9s, Under 12’s, 14’s, 16’s and a Girls T20 team. Through our strong and close relationship with the Bulleen Templestowe District Junior Football Club and the great efforts of certain members of the club we continue to have strong numbers and offer an excellent environment for junior players.

Registration / Merchandise Order Night – Whilst registration is now an on-line process, we are having a Registration Night  between 6.00pm – 8.30pm on Wednesday 28th August at the Ted Ajani Clubrooms. Merchandise such as new playing shirts, caps, training shorts etc.. can also be ordered on this day and will be handed out on the night, or before the start of the season if we need to put new orders in. New players to the club receive a free white playing top and Bullants playing cap. Link to registration is below.

Bulleen Templestowe Cricket Club Junior Registration 2019/20

Registration Cut-off – This has been set as Sun 13th September 2019. While we are happy to take late registrations after this date, placement will be subject to available space in a team. Please note this does not apply to Junior Blasters, there is no cut-off date for this as there are no teams as such for this program. The more the merrier!

Training for Other Groups – At this stage we will not be running indoor pre-season training for Super 7s, Fast 9s and Girls training. Details on when training will commence for each group will be provided a bit closer to the time.

  • Junior Blasters – this is the new Milo cricket! No change to the program, it is just now sponsored by Woolworths. It’s a skills based program using tennis balls which is ideal for 6 & 7yo. More details around cost & timing will be provided soon
  • Super 7s – perfect for 8yo children that have come up from Milo cricket. Matches are non-competitive and are played with a softer cricket ball and on a shorter pitch. Not strictly age bound – consideration should also be given to the development stage of the player. Full whites and cricket equipment is worn. Games are played on Sunday mornings from 9am.
  • Fast 9s – ideal for 9yo children that have come up from Milo cricket or Super 7s and have one more year before they start their competitive cricketing career. Like Super 7s, matches are non-competitive and are played on a shorter pitch (but longer than Super 7s). However a proper 142gsm cricket ball is used (same as what they use in U12s). Not strictly age bound – consideration should also be given to the development stage of the player. Full whites and cricket equipment is again worn. Games are played on Sunday mornings from 9am.
  • Girls Only – This is ideal for girls aged 8-16 years of age. There are various stages/levels and players will be placed in the right team based on their skill level. Games are played on Wednesday afternoons from 5pm.
  • U12s – you have to be under 12 as of 31 Aug 2019 to play in this grade (so anyone born prior to 1 Sep 2007 must play U14s). At this stage we are looking to have a Friday night team.
  • U14s – you have to be under 14 as of 31 Aug 2019 to play in this grade (so anyone born prior to 1 Sep 2005 must play U16s). At this stage we are aiming to have both Friday night & Saturday morning cricket –  but it will depend on numbers for Saturday mornings. We have added an additional field to the online rego form which is called “Game Day”. Please select Friday and/or Saturday into this field.
  • U16s – you have to be under 16 as of 31 Aug 2019 to play in this grade (so anyone born prior to 1 Sep 2003 must play seniors). At this stage we are looking to have a Friday night team.

Registering for higher age groups for U12-16s only – while we have no major issue with players playing outside their “correct” age group, it will be depend on the numbers we end up having registered in each age group. If we have too many in any age group we may ask those playing up in the higher age group to return to their age based group. It may also mean that some play up and some don’t. This will be determined by the club after consultation with the coaches based on who is more capable to play in the higher age group.

Helmets – There have been some changes in relation to Helmets this year. It is highly recommended that any helmet used complies with the British Standard for helmet design. It is not yet mandatory, but may well be in the coming years. We recommend you ensure that if you are purchasing a new helmet, ensure it complies with this British Standard. The main noticeable difference is that the grill is “fixed” to the helmet, and not adjustable, by unscrewing. You can learn more by following the following Cricket Australia Links:-
